MUFEYA began with a shared vision between two friends, Sammie Joseph-Fredericks and Esthella Ajayi-Nicol. In 2021, Sammie was inspired by the culturally enriching programs she encountered but recognized a gap: the need for initiatives rooted in African heritage. She reached out to Esthella, who had successfully led an organization teaching etiquette to young African girls. Together, they set out to create MUFEYA, an organization focused on empowering children through programs that celebrate Africa’s diverse cultures and traditions.
Their vision quickly resonated with others, and five more mothers joined them to form MUFEYA’s seven founding members:
Sammie Joseph-Fredericks (Liberia)
Esthella Ajayi-Nicol (Sierra Leone)
Asneth Omare (Kenya)
Jarin Thorpe (Nigeria)
Jamesetta Ross-Diggs (Liberia)
Caroline Njau (Kenya)
Shetu Rose (Sierra Leone)
Today, MUFEYA stands as a vibrant community of mothers united by a common goal: nurturing the next generation of African leaders through programs deeply rooted in the values, history, and beauty of the African continent.
Honoring Heritage, Empowering Leaders, Transforming Futures.
